Good Comments…
- use an educated, energetic, and personal tone of voice
- tie directly to the post which they are commenting upon.
- include an identifying linking phrase or name
(ex. “Jane you mentioned in your post.., While reading Harry’s post about his dinner I really agreed with…, Though Bret, you have some valid points I have to disagree with…)
- incorporate questions and encourage others to join in on the conversation.
- are written in personal but relatively formal academic language, including: high-level vocabulary, complex sentence structures, assumption of the class material, etc. (sounds like an in-class discussion)
- often add more information than the previous posts, including: links to websites, pictures, videos.
- are authentic to the author.
- always adhere to the expectations of appropriate online behavior (it’s not always what you say, but how you say it! No profanity, obscentities, rude comments against others, inside jokes, etc.).
NOTE: All comments will be moderated by me; so it will often take some time before it appears. Any inappropriate comments will receive no credit and possible disciplinary action. Remember, the internet is a public forum! We must always present ourselves with class and dignity if we hope to be respected.
